Now that utility companies are charging a fortune for energy supply, people are seeking alternative sources that are going to work for their finances. The loss of biodiversity is such a real problem across the globe currently. Species of plants and animals are disappearing without them having been discovered. It is that serious!

Research estimates that at least a hundred species of organisms disappear every year without having been discovered. A majority of these losses amount from the pollution of the environment. Pollution comes about in so many different ways. There are air, soil and water pollution among others. This pollution is arising from the human activities that are taking place on the earth.

Solar energy and other alternative energy sources have been proven to be extremely beneficial when it comes to reversing this loss. Solar energy leaves habitats untouched and thus allowing the organisms to thrive in their current and natural residences. The same cannot be said about other forms of energy. Animals would rather be relocated to pave way for exploration of fossil fuel rather than leave it untapped.

Solar energy is ready-made, fresh from the sun. There are no by-products that come with the manufacturer of solar energy. The same cannot be said about the production of nuclear power. There is harmful radiation that is produced. In the production of hydroelectric power there a lot of carbon dioxide that is being produced. Carbon dioxide is one of the reasons why global warming is such a struggle across the world.

This is with specific bias against the drilling of fossil fuels. Oil spills have caused serious damage to specific across the globe. A few years back there was a spill in the Gulf of Mexico which caused the death of not only fish but also birds. Birds soak in the oil and could not fly thus they end up drowning in the ocean water. It was one of the worse oil spills. When a spill occurs on land, it causes just as much damage. It will destroy the quality of the soil and so much more. Solar energy does not have anything to spill.

Drilling for fossil fuel involves the removal of large amounts of soil. Production of hydroelectric power requires the creation of dams. To do this, the river must have its course changed to allow for the dam to be built. This compromises the integrity of the soil. With all these landslides happening around the world, there is a lot to be worried about. For starters, the soil is no longer compact and thus a landslide should not come as surprise. Solar energy does not involve the extraction of soil anywhere.

There are tragedies that can be avoided like floods. Changing the course of a river in the name of producing electric energy can promote the flooding of a place. With solar energy, there is a reduction of floods that result from human activities. This way plants are not destroyed, animals do not drown and property is not damaged either.
